In this environmental renaissance era, I thought that rechargeable power system for my Duo headlamp was the way to go. So once I got my recharging unit, I put it to the test. Sure enough Petzl held its own and never failed. The battery pack gave me a solid 3 hours of continuous light on a single charge and recharging was faster than most units I have used in the past. The recharging unit is a trickle charger so you can leave the battery on the charger overnight with no worries of destroying the battery. The fact that I do not have to buy batteries is a great reduction in operating expense.
The Duo headlamp is my overall favorite headlamp. For sometime I thought the external battery pack was a better choice but I am finally seeing the preverbal light. Once the Duo headlamp has a battery pack, it really feels no heavier than the belt pack model. I have used this headlamp for night fishing, turkey hunting and many other everyday needs and I cannot live without it. Recently I was forced to hold a flashlight and it was painfully clear how primitive that was, reinforcing my belief in my Petzl Duo headlamp. This is a tuff light that has the light power that I need with the toughness to endure harsh treatment. For all my light needs at night, I choose my Petzl Duo headlamp.
