How to create a ringed stinger hook rig..... Short strikes occur all the time, by adding a stinger hook to your lures you will eliminate the short strikes and help to put more fish in the boat. Stinger hooks are created by attaching a short section of Dacron, Kevlar or Spectra braided material to a hook which creates a loop that is a lure. Stinger hooks can be added to almost all. By adding a stinger hook to the eye of the jig you can catch more of those short strike bites. J style hooks are traditionally used for stinger hooks but most hooks can be used if matched to the lure they are to be used on. Below is how I create a stinger hook rig, I used an 8/0 hook for illustration but the steps are the same for all sizes of hooks.
